HISTORICAL PRINTS

Evans Studio has preserved memories of Freehold and the surrounding area back as far as the 1930's. George Evans, Sr., a native of Freehold and the founder of the studio maintained negative archives in many negative formats:8x10 negatives, 4x5 negatives, 2 1/4 negatives and 35mm. The older negatives are in Black and White. Evans Studio records precede any of today's studios in the area and was 1 of only 2 studios in existence in Freehold prior to the 1970's.

What is important about these archives is that all aspects of Freehold were recorded on film as part of the normal activities of a photo studio. Local businesses recorded their buildings, people, products. Local people recorded their special events. The local and state police recorded their accidents and crime scenes. The fire department recorded fires, building collapses, and equipment. Schools recorded their students.

If you are looking for old Freehold images, the Evans Studio is an excellent place to start with more than 60,000 negatives in its archives. Here is a sample of old Freehold.
